seven days a week…

I am very proud to announce that Dublin knitters can now knit in the city seven days aweek.

New to the knit in the city list, is a weekly Monday knit night at Shebeen Chic on South Great Georges Street. This group is  currently looking to recruit more members.  It is a very informal group, just a few drinks and some knitting.  All are welcome every Monday from 19:30h.

As  for the seventh day in our list, I’m including the new Dublin Spinning group that will start meeting on the last Sunday of each month.

DKC will be hosting two SnBs on Wednesday 03 February and Wednesday 03 March at The Chocolate Bar.

unscheduled knit in the city…

Today’s knit in the city was unplanned and unscheduled. It started as a DKC tweet which developed into  a couple of hours of knitting at the IFI Cafe.

Take a look at what a few of the Dublin knitters are knitting…

There is a new group in town, The Dublin Spinning Group will have monthly spin-ins on the last Sunday of each month.

Spinners are invited to bring their wheels or drop spindle to the inaugural spin-in on Sunday 31 January, to the balcony area in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre.

Here’s some general info:

* The balcony is located just a few metres away from the entrance to the car park if you plan to drive into town.

* The car park entrance fee is approximately 2 to 3 euro an hour.

* The Balcony is next to the lift, so no stair-climbing needed.

* The area has great light coming in from the skylight roof.

* The Balcony is next to the lift, so no stair-climbing needed.

* It is not a café, so you may want to bring in your own from home baked goods (but not necessary for those of us who do not bake). There is an abundance coffee shopsin the area that will provide takeaway.

* There are chairs and benches.

* The Balcony is next to This is Knit, in case you have a roving or spindle emergency.

Exciting Announcements for the first spin-in:

* This is Knit is sponsoring a spot spinning raffle prize for the first meeting on the 31st January.

* Gaiety Girl Fibre Arts is rewarding the first person to knit something from their Sunday handspun, with a prize.

Note:  A huge thank you to kneehigh, an enthusiastic enabler.
