Happy Yarniversary!!

This is Knit has come a long way in five years. Mother and daughter, Jacqui & Lisa are well known to almost every knitter in Ireland. This dynamic knitting duo started selling high quality and luxury yarns on weekends in a tiny market stall in the Blackrock Market 2006. Then moved into the “house” just yards away, and extended their trading hours to five days a week. I enjoyed the cozy and friendly atmosphere of this LYS and its weekly Knit Nights on Thursdays where I established many of my knitty friendships.

With the support of their family and friends, Jacqui & Lisa made the big move to this fair city, a dream come true for me, the city dweller. The Dublin knitters finally got a LYS, smack in the middle of Dublin 2, at the Powerscourt Shopping Centre. This is Knit has become the focal and reference point to most of the knitting activity in Dublin’s City Centre. Over the years, This is Knit has given me the encouragement and support in facilitating The Dublin Knit Collective’s online presence.

I wish to extend a heart felt Happy Yarniversary to Jacqui & Lisa and their team at This is Knit. It has been a wonderful five years and I look forward to seeing what’s in store for the next five.

Well today’s the day, we’ve all been waiting for…..The Yarniversary Party!!!

Summer lovin’…

It hasn’t felt like summer in Dublin until today when the temperature will hit twenty.

I joined a knit a long that was spotted on Twitter.  The pattern is The Party Lace Scarf by Lisa Sisk as @brendankehoe ventures into his first lace project.  The hashtag is #partylacealong.

It is a recommended beginner’s lace pattern (definitely still a novice here).
