Meeting Dublin’s Knitters is a series of blogposts about knitters in our fair city. If you personally have to opportunity to meet anyone of these knitters, please say hello and wave your knitting needles in the air ; )
The Yarn School is a new learning, meeting and sharing place for all interested in the art and craft of textiles. They are located in the heart of Dublin’s historic Liberties area over The Constant Knitter shop on 88 Francis Street.
The Yarn School is run by Marja Almqvist, a textile graduate from NCAD. After leaving college she was proprietor of her own knitting and weaving business for several years, before turning to community arts and development, including adult community education. Marja’s extensive experiences culminate in The Yarn School approach, where people will have the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and explore their own creative potential in a friendly and supportive environment.
Marja runs a range of classes and workshops for all levels of skill and interest, from beginners classes in knitting, spinning, crochet to more creative and specialists workshops based on particular themes or techniques.
The Yarn School recently held their very first class, where five non-knitters came together and the five happy knitters came out with their first garter stitch samplers.
