A bit of fun…

The Summer Sunday Knitting sessions at The Constant Knitter are proving to be quite popular so far.

Last Sunday was particularly a warm day but did not stop us from celebrating Christmas in July.

Our next SSK social is Sunday 27th August. Watch this space!

 SSK?

I am delighted to announce a new collaboration between the DKC and The Constant Knitter.

This summer, I will be doing what I do best, knitworking and Rosemary will open the Studio for knitters and crocheters on the fourth Sunday during the summer months.

We would be delighted if you can join us on Sunday 25th June / 23rd July / 27th August from 2pm to 4pm.

We’ll put the kettle on, so bring a wip or start a new one and knitwork.

P/HOP is Coming to Dublin

Did you see the latest ” I’ll be there! “post over on my Facebook page

I am absolutely delighted that the P/Hop Trunk Show is coming to Dublin this Sunday.

For those of you wondering, p/hop, is a charity knitting project that raises funds for the emergency medical aid organisation, Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders

P/HOP Co-ordinator, Heidi a.k.a. @readysetstitch will be at The Constant Knitter  with a selection of p/hop’s accessories that we, knitters just love to knit. I can’t wait to see the samples of shawls, cowls, socks and hats.

This event will be my opportunity to learn more about p/hop’s charitable efforts and how I can get involved.

I hope you’ll knitwork with me to find out why MSF is my charity of choice.

Trim Knit Nights

Today, I welcome guest blogger, Eimear and her online persona, inkedandcrafty. I hope you’ll enjoy this post and continue to follow her creative adventures online.

Hi, I’m Eimear but more commonly known as inkedandcrafty and across Instagram and Ravelry.

I was a lonely solo knitter as work didn’t allow for me to attend daytime knitting groups locally or for travelling into Dublin for the groups there, and my sister who is also a knitter lives about 190km away.

I was sad and jealous of the knit nights I was seeing online and for a long time I toyed with the idea of starting a knit night locally myself – I’m based in Trim, Co. Meath.

As a blow in, I was worried would anybody be interested so I decided to bite the bullet in October 2016 and started one.

Five knit nights later I would class it as a roaring success. We have more and more people each time we meet.

For the moment we meet once per month in our local Costa, although the frequency may increase in time. We are a mixed bag of new and experienced crafters from all walks of life with different interests. We have knitters, crocheters, a spinner and many other crafters.

I wanted this group to be really inclusive and welcoming for all, somewhere we could sit and chat, and I’m delighted to say it seems to be working out really well!

Follow me on instagram or join our Trim Knit Night Ravelry group to find out more details. And thanks to my super supportive husband for designing my poster!

Thank you so much, Eimear for sharing your experience and success in starting a knit night.

Update: The Trim Knit Knit has become quite popular and now meet the first Friday and third Thursday of each month in Costa Coffee on Loman Street in Trim, Co. Meath.

Knitworking with The DKC

Knitworking is a word I use all over social media. It evolved from stitch n bitch, knit n knatter, knitting meet ups.

image from knitworking.co.uk

Knitwork originates from the word, network, and the Oxford dictionary defines it as:

A group of people who exchange information and contacts for professional or social purposes.

So, I adapted  this definition to:

Knitworking:  To interact with other knitters to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts.

This past week, my knitworking passion received an honourable  mentioned from Nadia of the Cottage Lover’s Notebook, on this blogpost and the CLN podcast episode 7. Please go and click on the links to read n listen. You’ll love it!

On another knitworthy note….

The DKC Knit and Healthy night at The Hopsack last Wednesday turned out to be a Sock Knit Night.

Lovely to see a few knitters turn out and join in with their sock projects.

Also, today several knitters will be participating in the Women’s March Dublin.

Keep an eye out for those wearing the #pussyhats.

I was able to knit one up this week and gave it away to an American student who will be marching  today.

It was a good week…
